About this Course

This live online American Sign Language (ASL) class is designed for students in grades 8-12 who have completed ASL 1 or have comparable experience. The course builds on the foundational skills learned in ASL 1, introducing more advanced signs, fingerspelling, and classifiers, as well as exploring ASL grammar and Deaf culture in depth. Through weekly modules, students will learn new material, practice signing, and view signed stories to improve receptive skills. Live classes, which take place once a week, allow students to communicate with the teacher and each other in ASL.

Students can expect to spend around half an hour a day, five days a week on this full-year course. A computer, webcam, high-speed internet, sound card, microphone, and streaming video capabilities are required. Quizzes will be graded by the computer, and weekly recordings will be personally graded by the instructor. Students and parents are encouraged to reach out with any questions or concerns.
