About this Course

This online course, American Literature and Culture, explores the literary and cultural identity of the United States, with a focus on freedom and American identity. Students will engage with significant novels, short stories, and poems from the American literary canon, fostering a dialogue on the nature of liberty and the nation's character. The course is structured around reading, discussion, and writing components, with a particular emphasis on writing skills. Students will compose three essays, including a research paper following MLA style, receiving extensive feedback and guidance throughout the process. Prerequisites include High School Literature & Composition and/or British Literature, or instructor permission. Upon completion, high school students may earn 1 Literature credit.
