American History I and II
About this Course
This is an advanced, college preparatory course in American history, merging material typically covered in two years into one rigorous yet non-AP program. Starting with pre-Columbian cultures and ending with the War on Terror, it emphasizes political, economic, and cultural trends. Through weekly reading, debates, essays, and online assessments, students will spend around 60 minutes daily. The course is weighted equally on participation, quizzes, essays, and exams. Completion rewards 1 high school credit in Social Studies or History. Students need to be proficient in reading college-level texts and writing, requiring a headset microphone for some assessments. Recommended for high school freshmen through seniors (ages 14-18).
