About this Course

This course, suitable for grades 8-12, is the first of a two-year series focusing on American history, with an emphasis on historical analysis. It covers a comprehensive timeline of American history, from pre-1615 life in North America to the end of Reconstruction in 1877, including key events such as the founding of the United States, the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, and the development of political parties. The course combines lectures and discussions, supplemented by extensive reading, essay assignments, and online assessments, requiring approximately 60 minutes of homework daily. Grading is based on participation, quizzes, and two significant historical essays per term. Students must be able to read college-level textbooks and write grammatically correct sentences.
