Algebra 2 and Trigonometry

Algebra II is a comprehensive mathematics course that builds upon the foundation laid in Algebra 1 and Geometry. Students will explore a wide range of topics, including real and complex numbers, various types of functions such as linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, and rational, sequences and series, statistics and probability, and analytic geometry. The course has an authentic learning approach, presenting topics in the context of their historical and real-world origins, and encouraging students to apply mathematics to solve real-world problems. It also includes preparation for the SAT and competition-level problems, as well as portfolio projects designed to deepen understanding and foster creativity.

The course is taught using an interactive, discovery-based methodology that involves minimal lecturing, especially at the high school level. Teachers guide students through new concepts using Socratic-style discussions, hands-on activities, and group work, with a focus on connecting new ideas to prior knowledge and real-life applications. Emphasis is placed on independent learning and critical thinking, with regular assessments designed to deepen understanding rather than simply test recall.
