About this Course

The Advanced Statistics course is a full-year course that provides an in-depth study of major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. The course is organized around four themes: exploring data, sampling and experimentation, probability and simulation, and statistical inference. Students will use technology, investigations, problem-solving, and writing to build their understanding of statistical methods. The course is designed to prepare students for the AP Statistics exam and includes all necessary content and skills. A strong background in algebra and quantitative reasoning is required, as the course is equivalent to a one-semester, introductory, non-calculus-based college course in statistics.

Students who wish to take the AP exam must register and arrange to sit for the test at a local school. The course can be audited for homeschool transcripts through the Well-Trained Mind Academy. No prior knowledge of statistics is assumed, but a solid understanding of algebra is required.
