About this Course

The Advanced Spanish with Embedded Health course at Aim Academy is a unique language learning experience that uses a Content-Based Instruction (CBI) approach, also known as Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in Europe. This course integrates the study of Spanish with various academic subjects, starting with health in the first year, followed by topics such as economics, geography, and current events in subsequent years. Students in this course can earn credits for both Spanish and the embedded subject area.

Throughout the year, students are presented with materials in Spanish related to health topics, such as nutrition, human growth and development, and disease prevention. They spend the week reviewing these materials and create projects in Spanish to share their understanding. The course follows a uniform structure, with a pretest at the beginning of the year and a post-test at the end. Students are expected to spend time studying and practicing Spanish for at least five days a week, and their weekly timesheets and projects make up the majority of their grade. This course is suitable for students with several years of Spanish exposure or multiple years of Spanish classes, as it is taught almost entirely in Spanish.
